Apex Igbo socio-political organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has drastically makes a u-turn regarding the upcoming presidential election in Nigeria, claiming that they might not participate for the political position.
The group leader John Nnia Nwodo on his statement during the campaign meeting in Abuja on 20th August 2020, declared that the ohaneze ndigbo group might not be able to participate in the upcoming election for igbo presidency.
While speaking further the group leader made a brief statement saying;
As the situation in Nigeria get worse on a daily basis, the present government are yet to get a solution to this mess, we’re afraid the the people might not participate to vote in a free and fair election, the igbo presidency is still intact till further notice, meanwhile we cannot ensure that the igbo presidential ambition will be achieved.the group said
Meanwhile, Recall that Anambra State president of Ohanaeze, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene said during a press briefing in Awka that the igbo mandate would be pursued with the seriousness it deserved because the South East was the only zone that had not occupied the office of president of Nigeria since the present democratic dispensation began in 1999.
